Responses

The Responses API provides an item-based output contract for text and function calls. PicoX can convert Responses requests to Chat Completions, Anthropic Messages, or Bedrock Converse and return a Responses-compatible result.

POST/v1/responses

Request parameters

modelstring · required

Public model ID from /v1/models.

inputstring | array · required

Text, or an array of input items and messages.

instructionsstring · optional

System instructions placed before the input.

max_output_tokensinteger · optional

Maximum output tokens. Values above the model’s output limit are capped. When omitted, your account default output limit applies.

temperaturenumber · optional

Sampling temperature. Higher values produce more varied output.

top_pnumber · optional

Nucleus sampling: only tokens within this cumulative probability are considered.

streamboolean · optional

Returns Server-Sent Events when set to true.

toolsarray · optional

Function definitions available to the model.

tool_choicestring | object · optional

Controls tool use: none, auto, required, or a specific function.

parallel_tool_callsboolean · optional

Allows the model to request several tool calls in one turn.

textobject · optional

Output settings; use text.format for JSON mode or a JSON schema.

reasoningobject · optional

Reasoning settings, such as effort, for compatible models.

previous_response_idstring · optional

Continues from a stored response created by your account. Its output text is added as prior assistant context; an unknown ID returns 404 response_not_found.

storeboolean · optional

Stores the response so it can be retrieved later.

metadataobject · optional

Key-value metadata forwarded with the request.
